The Application of Chlormequat Chloride: Spindling Prevention

Spindling prevention-- the application of chlormequat chloride is often used in the following crops:

(1) Potato

In order to control the overground growth of potato, 1000-2500 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution was used to spray on the surface of the leaves during the flowering period, which could make the plants short and strong, the leaves thick and green, prevent spindling, promote the growth of underground tubers and increase the yield.

(2) Cotton

It is easy to fall buds and bolls when cotton is in full bud stage. Spraying 25-40 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution on top of cotton can replace artificial tip, make cotton plant dwarf, prevent spindling and increase boll setting rate. At the boll setting stage, spray 25-40 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution on the leaves for one time and the effect of Boll preservation will be better.

Chlormequat chloride is suitable for cotton plants with strong growth. Because of the dense growth and poor ventilation of cotton plants, it is easy to fall buds and bolls. After treatment with chlormequat chloride, the cotton plants are short and strong, the internode is shortened, and the ventilation and light transmission are improved, which is conducive to boll protection. For example, the effect of  boll protection is more obvious after spraying combined with one time of topping and pruning. It is not suitable to use chlormequat chloride for cotton plants with sparse growth because of their light shedding bolls.


(3) Soybean

Spraying 500-1000 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution on the leaves at the full flowering stage can make the stems thick and strong, have the function of preventing lodging, and increase the number of pods of soybean.


(4) Tomato

Spraying 50% water solution diluted 5000-50000 times on the soil surface at seedling stage can make the plant compact and blossom early. It is also possible to increase the fruit set rate and increase the yield of tomato before spraying the whole plant with 50% water solution diluted 1000 times before flowering.


(5) Cucumber

When growing 14-15 leaves, spraying with 50-100 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution can shorten internode and promote fruit setting in later stage.


(6) Capsicum

Spraying 500-1000 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution on the leaves at the flowering stage of hot pepper can make the plants robust and produce early results.


(7) Cucumber, pumpkin, wax gourd and bottle gourd

Because of the vigorous growth and excessive consumption of nutrients, young melons often fail to grow and wilt, that is, the phenomenon of transforming melons. When the roots are irrigated with 250-500 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution, the overgrowth of the vines can be prevented and the melons can be formed.


(8) Carrot

When 100-200 mg / kg chlormequat chloride solution is used to irrigate the soil, the growth of carrot plants can be controlled, the root development can be promoted and the yield can be increased under the condition of poor light intensity.
